The Lamplit Archive
D&D lore by edition, ready for your table.
The Lamplit Archive retells Dungeons & Dragons lore the way a dungeon master explains it to players before a campaign. We start with the Forgotten Realms: Mystra and the Weave, Netheril, the Time of Troubles, the Spellplague, Menzoberranzan and the Underdark. Then we move to Greyhawk, Planescape and Dragonlance. Each piece tells the history in order and names the edition or sourcebook that set each detail. It also shows where later books changed that detail, because the contradictions between editions are often the most useful part. Every episode closes with two or three concrete ways to use the lore at your table. Scripts, art and narration are made with software. Scripts are drafted from named public sources, mainly the published sourcebooks, the Forgotten Realms Wiki and other Fandom wikis, and Wikipedia. Each script is then checked against those sources. Where sources disagree, we say so and name the mainstream position, and speculation is labelled as speculation. Each video description lists the books and wiki pages used, with URLs and licenses.
